Welcome to

Our Team

A veteran member and team co captain, I am a sophomore. As co-captain and vice-president of our school's robotics club, I work to help manage and coordinate the activities of our entire team and the club, from fabricating to programming to outreach to business. A programmer by trade, I am also experienced in fabrication and use my skills to help incorporate different aspects of the robot together. Our team's main strategist, I am fully-versed in all of the rules and analyze optimal gameplay strategies. I incorporate this knowledge into our robot's execution as our team's second driver. Since the 6th grade, when I began programming NXT robots, I have held a passion for robotics and programming. This background gave me a good foundation to begin FTC. Last year was my first time competing in the FTC competition, and I feel like I have come a long way since then. I now understand basic robot design principles, grasp the concepts of mechanical advantage, and have developed teamwork and managing skills. As a programmer, I now have control of a new beast, Java. In only my second year of FTC robotics, I still have lots to learn and contribute to our team. Outside of robotics, I am part of our school's App Academy, and a member of the Science Olympiad team and Astronomy Club. I also play the piano and hold a third-degree black belt in taekwondo.

- Jaimyn, Co-captain and Lead Programmer

I am currently a sophomore at Pasadena High School. This is my second year participating in robotics. I am the team's lead fabricator and team co-captain of IFC. I usually cut most of the pieces necessary for our robot and come up with mechanical ideas to help our robot complete the tasks needed to do well in competition. During the competition, I am the driver. I was first introduced to robotics in 7th grade where we focused on building and programming NXT robots. Ever since then my love for robotics has grown. Throughout the years, I have learned a lot about the different components of a robot, and what is needed for it to be functional. My team has helped me learn what teamwork is like as well as gracious professionalism. Outside of robotics, I’m a cross country/track runner. I have been playing the piano since kindergarten and I’m also part of engineering club and Science Olympiad here at PHS.

- Brandon, Co-captain and Lead Fabricator

I am currently a senior at Pasadena High School. Aside from being a programmer, I am also the team’s notebook editor. Now in my third year of robotics, I have grown a lot as a person. Being part of the robotics team has taught me a lot about time management and collaboration. Most of all, it has encouraged me to communicate more with others, which was something that I wasn’t very comfortable with before. Outside of robotics, my extracurriculars include violin and Chinese. I joined robotics not only because of my interest in STEM, but also in hopes of gaining experience by working in a team setting. I hope to take what I learn and apply them in the future as I pursue a career in the medical field.

- Christy, Programmer

I am a freshman at Pasadena High School. On this team, my main role is a programmer. At meets, I am an observer; I take notes on every robot’s performance. I did robotics in 6th grade at Wilson Middle School and in 8th grade at Sierra Madre Middle School. I joined this team because I am interested in coding. Outside of robotics, I like to play video games and soccer.

- Charlie, Programmer

I am a fabricator and CAD designer. I worked with Spencer Timmons to create the capstone in CAD. During meets, I am part of the pit crew, and we fix the robot if it breaks. I started doing robotics during middle school, and have continued on into high school. High school robotics is very different, and it is a new experience. This is my second year at high school, so I have a little more experience.

- Hugo, Fabricator

I am a fabricator and CAD designer. My side job is strategist and my meet job is photographing the competitions/observer. I have worked on 3D modeling different parts of the robot. I have worked on projects such as the design of the collection mechanism and the 3D model of the capstone. I work with Hugo on such projects. I have also worked on building the physical mechanism for collection. Since joining the robotics team I have learned more about the components of the robot. Also, I have learned more about working as a team with others. Outside of robotics, I play soccer and am learning multivariable calculus.

- Spencer, Fabricator

I am the robotics club's coach. I helps the club fill out the necessary paperwork associated with their robotics team. I also helps them communicate with the school. Outside of robotics, I teach AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC at Pasadena High School.
